Reflections

This is one of my favourite spots in town. Along the river, the different colored houses reflect in the quiet river, on a windless day. Peaceful.

Via Claudia

Concordia Sagittaria has two major roads crossing its center: one of them is via Claudia. Via Claudia comes in from Portogruaro at the right side of river Lemene and has some pretty shops and a beauty parlor. This picture has been shot approaching the center of the town.

A typical house

A typical house in Barcis, a village in the mountains, about 50 km from Concordia Sagittaria. It is called Palazzo Centi and was first built during the Sixteenth Century. It has been renovated since few years using once again the rocks and stones of the River Cellina (that flows nearby) as in the original construction.

Sundial

You can see this sundial is on the facade bof a house in the center of Concordia. Of course it does not consider daylight saving's time, but it works well! Underneath it you can read: al sol misuro i passi taht means I measure sun's steps.

Old farm house

The countryside around Concordia is full of these old abandoned farm houses. Sometimes trees grow inside the walls, many times the roof is partially or totally collapsed. They are a charming view: recallnig past times and a life so different from ours nowadays.

I guess I'll post more pictures of these kind of buildings in future.

Another pretty window

Another pretty spot in Portogruaro. This building has just been renewed, it looks very nice.

PS: Happy 4th of July to all USA Americans!

Windows, again

Another beautiful view of windows on an old building in Portogruaro. I love this one.

Medieval window

A beautiful window on a medieval building in Portogruaro. I will post more in the next days, there are some many beautiful spots to show you.

Nice hidden view

One of the very nice things about small and big towns in Italy is that often a building that isn't interesting looking at it from the street front, hides a wonderful and picturesque courtyard and garden. It is fun to walk around and try to get a quick look inside a doorway or a window ...

(This picture is made in Portogruaro)

Pretty entrance

I really like looking at other people's houses' entrances and windows. I often see very pretty spots and flowers and plants that decorated homes in a very delicate way.

Wine bottle caps

Concordia Sagittaria is in a region famous for wine making. Red wines like Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Merlot and white wines like Sauvignon, Tocai and produced here. So we have of course a lot of bottles, caps and so on all around ...
In this house they even used wine bottle caps to protect people from hurting themselves on these bars (probably put temporarily before makinh a fence!)

Pretty windows, again

Another nice window: happy flowers and pretty curtains. I see many pretty windows here and they are really a pleasant view.
I tried hard to do the same thing at home (I mean in my house) but you know what I found out? That it takes a lot of effort and passion to keep up with all of this! I'm not that good with plants, so up to now ... I just admire other people's windows!

Mulberry tree

This mulberry tree grows in the middle of two twin houses. I like this spot very much (I also lived there for a couple of months and it was a very happy period of my life). Right now the tree has been pruned but soon it will be full of leaves and later on full of delicious mulberries: have you ever tried them?

By the way: my father puts mulberries in alcohol and makes a wonderful liquor!

Street art

In the street commonly called la stretta (roughly the narrow), there is this house with a wonderful graffiti: a real piece of art work. I saw the boy that made it, some years ago: high up on a ladder, the painter with a white apron and his colors and a paint-brush.

Which color for his house?

Trying to decide which will be the color of this house. I always wondered why in the exact center of Concordia, in front af the Cathedral, among old houses colored with shades of brown, red, yellow, white there is a light blu greyish house! Fortunately I found out that it is a temporary color and that the usual prove colore - roughly color trials - have been done.

Which color will win the contest? I'll let you know.
