Reflections

This is one of my favourite spots in town. Along the river, the different colored houses reflect in the quiet river, on a windless day. Peaceful.

A nice spot

A nice spot along the river Lèmene, on one side a tree full of spring blossoms, on the other side of the waterway an old farm house.

A walk along the river

This morning I took a walk along the river Lemene. The small road first and path then, along the river is one of my favourite places in my town. This is one of the many beautiful spots along the way.

Theme Day: your favorite part of town

My favorite part of the town is anyplace you can walk or sit by the river. Watching the water flow slowly is a very peaceful sight and let my thoughts flow with it. This picture shows both the river, I love, and the quite new path made along the river, where you can stroll on foot or by bike.

Fog

Fog. This is a foggy winter, not too cold, but with often a dull grey sky.

New Year...time for a new start

Happy New Year. And Happy New Start! I'm back again after a long time. Now happily mother of three (ages 7, 5 and 2), I might say busily mother of three, I still keep taking lots of pictures...so I really feel as coming back to my blog.

To start, a picture taken yesterday evening. The night before Epiphany (today, 6th January) traditionally the casera is being burn on the river. A very tall stack of wood and hay is put at the center of the river Lemene (on floating metal barrels) and is given fire. According to how the smoke and sparks move, elder people make a prevision on how the harvest will be in summer.

Sacello SS. Martiri Concordiesi

This is the Sacello dei Ss. Martiri Concordiesi, a tiny chapel along the river Lemène that remembers the first Christian martyrs of Concordia. They were 72 and were killed in 304 AD in this place along the river. You can read more about them here (in Italian) and here (in English).

Swans

These three swans in some days are in Portogruaro, in other days they swim - always in a perfect straight line - to Concordia. Swans form a family, mother father and babies and they stay together until each baby is grown up enough to form a family.

(In this picture, the three swans where in Portogruaro)

River Lèmene

I haven't posted pictures of our river since a long time. Shame on me: I love the river, flowing so lazily!

A pretty spot

A pretty spot: a very old house on the river, with fresh flowers.

Portogruaro

Portogruaro is the closest town to Concordia (about 3 km). It is a very pretty town with about 30,000 inhabitants. It has a lazy river flowing in the center of the town and many old beautiful houses with hidden gardens that run till the water.

Finally no rain

Finally yesterday it stopped raining after one week of rain rain rain. Of course we went out for a walk and enjoyed our small little town. My almost 3 year old son by bike, my almost 5 year old daughter with a baby carriage for her dolls. It has been a pleasant afternoon. In the picture: Piazza Roma seen from the old Town Hall. The river Lèmene on the left side.

Water flowing lazily

This is my favorite place in Concordia: the river Lèmene. It is a quiet river, its water flows lazily towards the Adriatic sea (about 20 km from the town). I always wanted to live in a place with water, it is so relaxing and calming. Here I am, with both a river and the seaside quite close.
