Third birthday

This is my son, the day of his third birthday (a couple of weeks ago): he now swims without any support, both underwater (his favourite) and crawl. He is very elegant underwater and has a good coordination; when swimming crawl, he still looks a bit ... messy!

That's a wonderful shot of his head pressing through the water. I always liked swimming underwater too. It's good for children to do activities where they must take big breaths, like swimming under water, or learning to play music with wind instruments. A doctor told me that it makes children's lungs larger if done over the course of years, even in teenage, and the extra capacity stays through the adult years. By then, it will never be lost, even if the person stops the lung activities.
